XDS MVIP/SCSA BRI "U" Interface Boards

The XDS Basic Rate ISDN "U" Interface board provides four "U" Interface ports, and interfaces directly to the telephone network, eliminating the need for NT1 connections to interface to BRI trunks. The board is also equipped with an on-board DSP to handle DTMF and call progress tone generation, along with DTMF and energy detection features.

Each of the four ports on the "U" Interface board may be configured as either Line Termination or Network Termination. This allows each port to be configured as either a switch, or a piece of terminal equipment. Each port also supports two B-channels which may be connected to either the MVIP or SC bus. Both speech and circuit-switched data connections are allowed.

Maintenance features such as the Embedded Operations Channel are supported in either the Line Termination or Network Termination modes. Connections are made to each port using standard RJ-45 connectors.

To provide easy development, the board includes an 80386EX local processor. This processor handles Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 protocols. The Layer 3 protocol directly supports National ISDN-1. If desired, the Layer 3 protocol may be bypassed so that developers may design their own protocols. This capability may be selected on a port-by-port basis. Layers 2 and 3 are completely compatible with the XDS MVIP/SCSA S/T BRI boards.

The XDS Basic Rate ISDN "U" Interface board is 8/16 bit ISA compliant, and is both MVIP-90 and SCSA compliant. DOS, OS/2, UNIXWARE, Windows NT, and Solaris drivers with APIs are available.
