The XDS MVIP High Density Combo Board provides an all in one solution. The High Density Combo board combines 7 Station Ports, 4 Loop Start Ports, and 1 Music-On-Hold Port allowing the development of a PBX in a single PC slot. A mezzanine board may be installed to add an additional 12 ports of either Loop Start or Station. AMTELCO currently offers Loop Start, Station, and Dry Audio mezzanine boards. An example application would use a 12 Port Station Mezzanine board to build a PBX with 4 Loop Start Ports for Central Office lines, 19 Station Ports for extensions, and a Music-On-Hold input. You can build the system size to your requirements. Additional Combo boards can be aded to the system along with any of the MVIP compliant boards. The
High Density Combo board is enhanced MVIP-90 compliant, and will operate
with any other MVIP compliant boards. Drivers available include DOS, OS/2,
UNIXWARE, Windows NT, and Solaris.
The XDS High Density Combo board addresses the inherent limitations of the PC architecture. Practically all analog telephone interface boards require a negative power supply of either -5V or -12V. PCs can typically provide only 0.5 Amp or less of either of these voltages. In order to avoid exceeding this limit when multiple boards are used, a local power supply located on each XDS board provides the required negative voltage. Because of this, port capacity is not limited by the PC power supply, so you can build your application to the size you need. The High Density Combo board utilizes on-board intelligence to handle line control, supervisory and tone signal functions with minimal host intervention, so that developers may use their valuable PC resources for their application, not to control the combo board. The Station and Loop Start Ports include DTMF detection and generation, energy detection for each port, local tone resources for each port, AGC and gain control for each port, and all standard call progress tones. The Combo board is a smart board that does not need associated voice boards to function. For developers, this means easy implementation with fewer slots. Yet when necessary, voice boards may be added via the MVIP to provide voice applications. The High Density Combo board is 8/16 ISA compliant. Station Interface - The XDS High Density Combo board functions as an interface to analog telephones. The seven Station Interface ports are battery feed ports that supply talk battery and are capable of applying ring voltage and message waiting voltage to the line. All normal line status and control functions are provided. Battery is applied at all times and current detection is always available. The High Density Combo board also has the ability to light standard message waiting indicators, and offers three standard ring cycles (selectable per port). Loop Start - The XDS High Density Combo board is connected to up to four loop lines from the telephone company to receive incoming and place outgoing calls. The High Density Combo board provides all normal line status monitoring. It furnishes battery sink and current detection when off-hook. When on-hook, ring detection is available. Music-On-Hold - One dry audio Music-On-Hold Port is available to connect the music-on-hold source. Technology covered under patents 5420852, 5341368 and others.
